my thanksgiving classics #1

sweet potato mush
i know; it's not the best name, but it's what we called it growing up.
this is THE BEST sweet potato casserole (yaya's recipe, of course). my mom always eats it for dessert and it just isn't thanksgiving without it.

ingredients:
3 cups sweet potato from a can
1 cup sugar
½ cup melted butter
½ cup milk
1 tsp salt
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
½ tsp nutmeg
½ tsp cinnamon

topping
½ cup brown sugar
½ cup chopped nuts
½ softened butter (do not melt)
½ cup plain flour

directions
mix all "mush" ingredients. pour into greased 9x13 pan. mix all topping ingredients with a fork. it will create a very moiste crumble. spread/crumble/sprinkle topping all over top of casserole with your fingers. bake at 350 for 30 minutes.

  1. This mush looks fantastic! I think I'll put this on the Christmas menu. Thanks! And your house does look beautiful in the snow. Come up for a visit and you can see LOTS of houses, and roads, and rivers and trees with snow on them ALL THE TIME!! :o)
